Transforming History into an Immersive, Interactive Narrative

This project reimagines the life and work of Emma Lazarus through an interactive digital storybook experience. Created for the American Jewish Historical Society, the goal was to translate a rich historical narrative into something engaging, accessible, and visually alive. Inspired by the setting where Lazarus wrote The New Colossus, the experience is designed as a digital folio, blending motion, illustration, and storytelling into a format that feels both tactile and immersive. Through layered visuals, animated typography, and interactive elements, each chapter invites users to explore not just her life, but the cultural and intellectual landscape of late 19th-century New York.

A Digital Experience That Makes History Felt

The result is an interactive storytelling experience that blends narrative, motion, and visual systems into a cohesive whole. By rethinking the format of a traditional book, the project creates a more engaging and accessible way to explore historical content. Each element, from animated text to visual transitions, works together to guide the user through the story, turning passive reading into an active, immersive experience.
